Beth Hill
Janet Speed Parham, 81, passed away November 25, 2015 at home after four years of declining health. She was born April 24, 1934, to the late Frank and Ophelia Speed in Oxford, N.C. Janet was preceded in death by her parents and two beloved sisters, Mae Currin of Oxford and Frances Peebles of Oxford.
Janet graduated from Oxford High School before attending Hardbarger Business School in Raleigh, N.C. Before retiring in 1996, Janet worked for the Vance County School System in the central office. She is a member of First Baptist Church of Henderson.
Janet is survived by her husband, John A. Parham, Sr. of the home, son, John A. Parham, Jr. also of the home, a daughter, Jan House and husband Tal of Clayton, N.C., two grandchildren, Wesley House of Clayton, and Michelle House of Wilmington, N.C. She is also survived by a cousin, Maddie Sue Cash, a niece, Brenda Currin of Oxford, four nieces, four nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
Janet had many wonderful caregivers over the years at the home. The family would like to thank Stacy Hargrove, Ella Evans, Angela Watkins, Linda Griffin, Jasmine Blackman, Crystal Edwards and Mary Durham for their wonderful care for the past four years. A special thank you goes to Denise Smith for her steadfast help and to Gentive Hospice nurses for their care as well.
The family will receive friends and family at Eakes Funeral Home, 106 Clement Ave. Oxford, N.C. on Sunday, November 29, 2015 from 1:00 – 2:30 P.M. A private interment will follow at Meadowview Memorial Park in Oxford.
